Applying for the 'Towards Sustainability' label

Financial institutions wanting to apply for the label for one or more of their products can contact the CLA at info@towardssustainability.be to receive the Application Package.

Application Package

The application package consists of:

  • A document about the application and verification procedure, and the fee structure
  • The application letter, including a list of required documents
  • The conformity matrix, that should be completed for all products
  • The base text of the Quality Standard and additional technical information
  • The optional signatory commitment letter

Labels will be awarded 4 times per year and are valid for 1 year. 

Awarding cycles 2021 

Due to the biennial revision of the Quality Standard the regular application dates have been modified:

31 January 2021 

  • Regular deadline for new applications and for renewal of labels applied for on 31 January 2020. 
  • Labels published in May 2021. 

31 March 2021   

  •  Last date to apply for a label based on the original Quality Standard (version February 2019). 
    • However, please note these products will receive the label in June 2021 but will in any case need to apply for renewal later this year based on the revised Quality Standard (version May 2021). 

Mid-May 2021  

  •  Revised Towards Sustainability Quality Standard published. 

The application deadlines of 30 April 2021 and 31 July 2021 are cancelled  

  • No applications for new labels possible. 
  • The validity of labels applied for on 30 April 2020 or on 31 July 2020 is extended to December 2021. Renewal should be applied for later this year.    

Awarding cycles under revised Quality Standard

  • 1 October 2021: Application deadline for new products.
  • 1 December 2021: Application deadline for renewal of existing labels.
